焦慮是影響運動表現之關鍵心理因素，焦慮同時也是影響心理健康的因素，由淤焦慮伴隨自律神經系統之活動，而心跳率又受自律神經系統活動的影響，因此焦慮與心跳率這項生理指標是密不可分的。心跳率會因自律神經系統的調控而產生變異，此種情形即爲心率變異度。心率變異度的變異程度主要受到交感與副交感神經活性的影響，當自律神經活動之變動越大時，心率變異度亦越大。心率變異度的分析主要爲時域及頻域分析兩種，而本文將以頻域分析的相關文獻為主，以回顧文獻的方式探討過去有關心率變異度與焦應的關係。總結過去相關研究發現，當人們感到焦慮時交感神經活性會提高，副交感神經活性下降，心跳變異度因此下降。
