知覺－行動(perception-action)向來是動作行爲學關注的課題之一，知覺的發展與動作發展密不可分。生態心理學以不同於傳統訊息處理觀點的角度解釋「知覺－行動」之間的關係，其認爲知覺－行動是共同發生，行動並非接續於知覺之後，生態心理學觀點中亦強調「直接知覺」與「環境賦使」(affordance)之概念，而知覺發展主要是透過「探索式活動」以及「選擇可用訊息」來達成，許多研究亦提出對生態心理學觀點之有力證據，而生態心理學亦提供知覺與行動及動作發展研究一個新的觀點。
