身體活動流行病學爲一門流行病學的新興學門。在這40年的發展中，身體活動流行病學對身體活動與健康相關領域之研究發現，影響層面甚大。近年來，國內身體活動學門開始重視以多重學門視角，來探索身體活動對健康的影響。因此，瞭解不同學門的概念與發展，是爲日後身體活動學門整合型研究之基礎。據此，本文是以流行病學之概述、身體活動流行病學之歷史，以及身體活動流行病學之橫斷性研究設計與實例等部份分作介紹，提供未來研究者在身體活動學術研究進一步探索之基礎知識。
