先秦時代，儒家和墨家並稱顯學，互相競爭，論辯詆訾尤為激烈。《墨子》書中提到孔子以及和儒者論辯的記載，散見於〈非儒下〉、〈耕柱〉、〈公孟〉諸篇章。直接描述孔子形象的三段文字，俱見於〈非儒下篇〉。儒家孔子的形象，近現代人對孔子的定位，乃延續北宋以來的傳統，主要來自被視為聖人語錄的《論語》。檢閱《墨子‧非儒下》所載內容，卻指向孔子人格上的缺陷，塑造出孔子負面的形象。循此，〈非儒下篇〉的指述便值得釐清探究。墨家評破孔子，呈現迥異於群體記憶中的孔子形象。然而，這些言論無論是口氣、用詞完全不類墨子的風格，應是墨家後學和後儒孟、荀因為學派競爭而激發，這和當代學術與政治環境的嚴峻挑戰有著密切的關係，所謂「兩怒必多溢惡之言」，可為註腳。

However, these opinions regardless of is the tone, the word usage completely not kind of Mozi style, should be the Mohist school later student and latter Confucian Meng, xun stimulates because of the school of thought competition, this and the present age academic has the close relationship with the political context stern challenge, so-called ”two anger must overflow the wicked word”, but is the footnote.
