英文摘要

This paper wants to explore Taiwan's strategic options for self-defense and joint operation under China military invasion. There are skeptical voices from the grass-roots levels in Taiwanese societies, who foresee less likelihood of war across the Straits and also look forward to a further scaling down of Taiwanese armed forces, it becomes increasingly clear that the Taiwan defense establishment is now under tremendous pressure to meet its defense commitment within limited resources. Since international intervention can be impractical to imagine for the Taiwanese defense establishment at this stage, and because there have been few cases concerning Taiwan's joint operation in allied warfare for this paper to review, it will, quite justifiably, limit its further observation but will presumably explore ROC armed forces' joint operation as a single actor in war. Taiwan must prepare self-defense under the guidance of defense strategy and to achieve the goal of strategic sustainment and tactical decisiveness to defeat the enemy's intention to get rapid victory. Taiwan military also need to establish more advance fighting capabilities that can meet joint operations requirements, and to achieve the objective of defense operations.
