東豐公路的興建需求源於921地震震斷了東勢到豐原唯一的聯絡道路,影響居民就醫與物資運送。本研究採個案研究法,以東豐公路選線這個真實的社會性科學議題(Socio-scientific Issue, SSI),探討SSI建模課程對師資生公路選線決策面向與品質的影響,以及決策方案和決策面向與品質之間的關聯性。本研究的研究對象為六組,共23位某國立大學參與「科學統整課程設計」課程的師資生。研究者設計決策因素表格與SageModeler電腦建模兩種不同建模表徵工具,進行兩輪建立—評鑑—修正建模循環歷程(Generation-Evaluation-Modification)的SSI建模課程。研究結果顯示師資生對此議題的決策面向主要著重於安全與經濟,並由一開始關注地震影響交通「安全」及居民「社會」正義的面向,逐漸關注到此條道路在爭議中卻已投入成本興建一半的「經濟」面向。而在決策品質部分,隨著SSI建模課程介入,師資生的決策品質逐步上升,逐漸能掌握單一因素中「可比較與量測」的特質,並提供更為「充足的證據或理由」支持決策,但對於因素間關係仍停留於同因素面向的縱向連結,須藉助SageModeler電腦建模工具才出現少量跨面向考量的橫向連結。多數組別的決策方案前後一致,但都提出更多科學性證據或決策因素而增強了決策品質。

英文摘要

The demand for the construction of the Dongfeng Highway originated after the 921 earthquake that disrupted the only connecting road from Dongshi to Fengyuan, affecting residents' medical treatment and material transportation. Utilizing the authentic Socioscientific Issue (SSI) of Dongfeng Highway route selection, this study explored the impact of this SSI modeling curriculum on the decision-making aspects and quality of highway route selection, the decision-making plan, and the relationship between decision-making aspects and quality. This study involved six groups of 23 preservice teachers from a national university who participated in a Science Integrated Curriculum Design course. This study used a decision factors table and SageModeler, two representational modeling tools, to conduct two SSI modeling cycles of Generation-Evaluation-Modification. Results showed that the decision-making aspects of preservice teachers on this issue mainly focus on safety and the economy. Their attention went to the earthquake's impact on traffic "safety" and the "social" justice issues faced by residents, and then slowly shifted to the road involved in the dispute-the "economic" aspect of construction at half the cost. With the intervention of SSI modeling courses regarding decision-making quality, the preservice teachers' decision-making quality gradually increased. They grasped "comparable and measurable" characteristics in a single factor and provided more "sufficient evidence or reasons" to support their decision-making. Despite this, they provided the vertical connection of the same factor aspect. Only with the assistance of SageModeler could they use a small amount of cross-aspects consideration of the horizontal connection. The majority of the participants presented consistent decision-making plans, but they all incorporated more scientific evidence or decision-making factors to enhance decision-making quality.
