The COVID-19 pandemic has posed countless threats and far-reaching repercussions to global mental health, especially for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) due to their vulnerability to the uncertainty and disrupted routines. With school closure, isolation, and upheaval of healthcare systems, these restrictions have raised the concerns of emotional and behavioral problems. A comprehensive search was performed in the PubMed, MEDLINE, and the EMBASE databases, highlighting the international experiences of psychological impacts, coping strategies and effective interventions for ASD and their caregivers. By integration of reinforcement systems, telehealth, together with accessible and continued support, we aimed to develop strategies to mitigate the huge impact of the pandemic and build an autism-friendly environment in the changing world.
