Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop, implement and evaluate an enjoyable learning enhancement teaching strategy for baccalaureate nursing students. Design: Based on the study results by Chung (i.e., the six dimensions of enjoyable learning), the enjoyable learning teaching strategy was developed by a group of experienced nurse educators using the nominal group technique (NGT). A quasi-experimental two-group pretest and posttest design was employed to identify the effect of the developed teaching strategy. Methods: Five nursing teachers developed the enjoyable learning teaching strategy. Two classes of students studying Maternal-Newborn Nursing Care were invited to participate. The experimental group, which consisted of 46 students, received the developed teaching strategy, whereas the control group, which consisted of 38 students, was educated using traditional teaching methods. The enjoyable learning scale and course grades were used to measure the effect of the developed teaching strategy. Results: The results of the study indicated that (a) the enjoyable learning enhancement teaching strategy was viable; and (b) students in the experimental group enjoyed learning more and learned more efficiently in the classroom than those in the control group. However, this result does not apply to clinical learning. Conclusion: The developed teaching strategy that enhances students' learning outcomes should be promoted, but strategies involving clinical teaching should be reevaluated.
