Taiwan Medical Accreditation Council (TMAC) has important contributions to Taiwan medical education since its inception and has been recognized by the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA) of U.S. and World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) as an agency of conducting program accreditation for Taiwan medical schools. This article briefly reviews the development and growth of TMAC, and its progress and achievements which have been witnessed by all stakeholders in Taiwan and international medical education communities. TMAC has successfully accomplished its mission to pursue and maintain excellence in medical education at all medical schools in Taiwan by conforming to the international standard of accreditation and continuously educational reform to bring forth caring physicians to serve the people of Taiwan.
