Objectives: The underlying mechanism of heart rate variability (HRV) of the central nerves system is related with motor control. But, little is known for the association between the HRV and fine motor performance. Method: The HRV of 32 healthy participants was measured using a short-term recorder, and spectrum analysis was conducted for their fine motor performance using finger tapping test. Results: The study findings showed that the finger tapping test on the left hand was significantly related to the higher level of low frequency component (r = 0.36, p < 0.05), and significantly related to the lower level of higher frequency component (r = -0.36, p < 0.05) of HRV. Conclusion: Elevated sympathetic tone could be related with better fine motor response among health individuals.
