英文摘要

The most effective way to use compost is to determine its PAN (potential availability of nitrogen) and to apply proper amounts of nutrients needed for croups of interest. Using an ammonium carbonate extracting method to estimate the PAN values of composts, equation (ln Y=ln a+b/X, X:PAN of compost, Y: estimated net available N, r2=0.673, p<0.01) has been developed and validated by means of pot experiments. This equation is evaluated in this study with field experiments in two soils. Five treatments with four compost rates (0 to 130 t/ha) and one chemical fertilizer were the same for the two experiments. The compost MC used in this study was made with chicken manure and mushroom grown waste. Results indicated that the highest N uptake of shoot and the corn yield were bout 3,599 mg/plant and 8.78 t/ha under treatment of 100 t/ha of compost in Tatsuen (Slate alluvial soil). In Waipu (Red soil), the highest N uptake of shoot and the corn yield were about 2,735 mg/plnat and 6.63 t/ha under the treatment of 130 t/ha of compost. There were significant relationships between the corn yield and the application rate of compost in different soils. However, the maximum yield of corn was about 8.87 t/ha under an application rate of 90 t/ha in compost in Tatsuen. But the corn yield kept increasing at the maximum application rate in Waipu, and the yield was about 7.23 t/ha at the maximum application rate of 130 t/ha. Therefore, it is concluded that the ammonium carbonate extraction method is effective in estimating the PAN values of composts, but it is necessary to modify the PAN values with field experiment.
