The purpose of this study is to evaluate the EC (Electrical Conductivity) items of irrigation water quality in Taiwan with field data and foreign literatures to provide references for stipulation of domestic irrigation water quality processing according to specific steps and chronologically. Two paddy fields locating at Chihu, Changhua were selected as the monitoring sites in this study. The rainfall were 1284, 1797, 901 and 657mm with EC 957 μS cm^(-1) from 2000 to 2003. The amounts of irrigation were 1361, 1065, 1313 and 1527mm for A site and 1107, 1194, 1074 and 1429 mm for B site in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 respectively. The EC values were 622-2 120 μS cm^(-1) and 477-1505 μ S cm^(-1) in A and B sites. There were no harmful items and salinity problem, nevertheless nutrient and salt abundance problem from the irrigation water. The soil EC were 1092 and 2256 μS cm^(-1) in A and B sites before monitoring in 2000. The soil EC were 1343 and 1621 μS cm(-1) in both sites after harvest of second crop of rice in 2003 respectively. The salt accumulation tendency in soil of A and B monitoring site was not found during the monitoring period. The result show salt accumulation in paddy field should be not caused if the field was irrigated with water with EC< 1000 μS cm^(-1) under present rainfall and water management in Chihu area. However, the rice might fall down and grain quality might be worse caused by the high nutrient in irrigation water. |
