英文摘要 |
This review essay will examine the issues that have been raised by two controversial publications from different fields: literature and science. They converge on a debate about how contextual factors should be taken into account in the evaluation of both artistic creation and scientific investigation. Over the years, theories of radical social construction have gained significant influence in the humanities and the social sciences, and have been successful in imposing a perspective that questions traditional, ”modern,” approaches to rational inquiry shared by scientists and students of art and literature. The following discussion will attend to one aspect of the controversy: authorship and the broader question of context-dependence. It will be proposed that a wide-ranging and critical evaluation of social constructivist assumptions be initiated in both the language-related sciences and literary studies. |
