The purpose of this research is to explore, through transnationalism, the lives of foreign brides and the second generation in Lu-Jou city, Taipei County. Three particular facets of their lifestyles will be explored, these being nationality identity, cultural identity and transnational thinking. A key issue in this research is to observe and understand the transnational values, ideologies and perceptions these foreign brides and the second generation display, and in which facets of their lives these distinct cultural identities will become apparent.Eight depth interviews of the foreign bride families who come from Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam were are done. From the results of the studies many significant issues became apparent. We found that the strong Taiwanese cultural, different economic status between host land and Taiwan, the reinforcement comes from the foreign bride families, traditional role in society and economic ability caused the foreign brides appear weak international thinking. And the children weak thinking do result from the parents and family attitude of cultural identity, how long of the foreign bride living in Taiwan, the peer group, the relationship with the mother's host land. Finally, we will discuss the contradiction issues between the multicultural and the integration society. We also hoped, from this research, to hold the attention to the multiple cultural identities of the children in school education and course planning.
