臺灣在「國際人口老化趨勢之比較」的老化曲線圖中，是全球老化速率最快的國家，老化帶來面面觀的議題；在健康領域上「健康老化、促進活躍」是眾所期待，是以在全球性經濟低迷的波及下，當務之急唯有以最低的成本效益獲取最佳的健康狀態為首要，因而健康促進的介入是最佳的途徑，也蔚為全球的健康風潮。針對此議題本文闡述健康促進觀點的沿革與意涵、老人健康促進的重要性與目標、方案內涵、執行面的落實與障礙等；希冀未來健康專業人員應深具老人健康促進的敏感度，也期盼政府有關單位能本著防微杜漸、未雨綢繆，勿臨渴掘井、亡羊補牢的理念，共創身心健康促進的老人國，以提升老人的生活品質。

The aging curves in a comparison study of international population aging indicate that the population aging rate in Taiwan is highest. Moreover, population aging brings up a variety of relevant issues. In the healthcare industry, ＂Healthy Aging; Promoting Mobility＂ is what aging people expect. Facing the fluctuation of global economic downturn, the most essential strategy will be to obtain the optimum healthcare value with the lowest cost. Therefore, the interventions for health promotion are becoming global health trends, as well. This article provides an overview of health promotion including its history, definition, importance and goals in elderly health promotion, contents of the program, and obstacles encountered during implementation. The author hopes that healthcare professionals are sensitive to geriatric health promotion. The governed organizations are expected to put an emphasis on health promotion, build a health-promoting aging society for promotion of quality aging life.
