|Poolside is the third short story in the short story collection Kaiten Mokuba No Dead Heat. In the introduction to the collection, Haruki Murakami declares his intention to revolutionise the existing realism and to capture a certain kind of absolute reality in his own way. This suggests that all the works in the short story collection should be aimed at this goal, but an examination of the existing studies of Poolside reveals that not only has the work failed to attract the attention of the research community, but the few analyses that have been carried out do not include it in Murakami's "literary manifesto". If we start from Murakami's "literary manifesto", we will find that the short story Poolside is part of Murakami's exploration of how to capture a certain absolute truth. That is, in trying to capture a certain absolute truth, the body subject is superior to the consciousness subject, but because of the limitations of the body subject itself, there is a need to further explore other ways of capturing a certain absolute truth.|Poolside is the third short story in the short story collection Kaiten Mokuba No Dead Heat.
