Taiwanese folk cultural beliefs fade away gradually with the urbanization and advancement of technology. The research materials are derived from the bamboo divination chips, which are well-known by most people in Taiwanese folk cultural beliefs. Combined with technical and interactive device, the bamboo divination chips would be applied to folk beliefs by means of whole new concepts; moreover, they could transmit the messages hidden in the process of traditional ceremony.
This proposed works is an interactive device based on vision, hearing, along with movement and participation by viewer as its way to expression. The result of viewer casts bamboo divination chips will determine how to display the screen and how to feedback the motion by the device on-the-scene. The interaction model of the proposed works is viewer operates, and then, the proposed works feedback automatically. The proposed works join many sense effects, including vision, hearing and environment atmosphere, to produce multi interactive feedbacks. By using techniques of digital and interaction, the proposed works combine interactive installation arts with folk cultural beliefs.
With evaluating different viewers, the evaluation result can be adopted in this study to discuss the impression and feeling of operating the proposed works. The questionnaire designed with two types: five-level Likert scale and open-ended form. The number of participants in the evaluation is twenty four. After operating the proposed works, the participants fill in questionnaire. The result of questionnaire is positive and the value of Cronbach's Alpha is 0.811. Based on the proposed works, the evaluation shows the combination of interactive design and folk cultural beliefs is positive.
