台灣三峽之救生醫院保留大量之珍貴磁磚，該類磁磚是日本磁磚之原型稱爲「敷瓦」，爲日本愛知縣瀨戶市附近生產之製品，屬現今在日本國內亦非常少見之「印花文敷瓦」樣式，主要是在江戶時代末期（19世紀初期）到明治10年代(1877~1886)期間生產使用之製品。 據說此處之「印花文敷瓦」原本用於日治時代「民政長官官邸」（明治34年：1901年竣工）建築之內，於大正12年(1923)建築解體後被移至三峽使用。因爲「印花文敷瓦」這種樣式主要生產及使用於距今百年以上之日治初期，所以上述來自「民政長官官邸」的說法有相當高之可能性。此外，從「印花文敷瓦」本身之價值來說，因爲在產地之日本目前也罕見其存在蹤影，所以非常珍稀貴重，爲深具保存價值之文化資產。

The Chiu-Sheng Hospital in Sansya, Taiwan, still keeps a great amount of precious tiles, which are the prototype of Japanese tiles called ”siki-gawara” (floor tiles). ”Siki-gawara” is a product of a place near the city of Seto city in Aichi Pref, Japan. It is rarely seen even in Japan nowadays. This kind of tiles was produced from the end of Edo period (the early 19th century) to the first decade of Meiji period (1877-1886). It was said that the ”impressed siki-gawara” tiles found in Sansya had been used originally inside the official residence of the civil governor during the Japanese Occupation Era (construction finished in 1901). In 1923, when the building was disassembled, these tiles were removed from the building and reused in Sansya. Since the ”impressed siki-gawara” was produced and used in the beginning of the Japanese Occupation Era over a century ago, it is quite possible that these tiles came from the official residence of the civil governor. Considering its rarity even in the production place Japan, the ”impressed siki-gawara” is a cultural heritage preciously valuable and worth of cautious conservation.
