許斤醫師（1893-1979），為台灣總督府醫學校第十五屆畢業生，是台灣早期接受正規西方醫學教育的菁英。本文為歷史研究，使用的史料檔案，包含許斤醫師三子許永和口述，林逸郎紀錄，許自寬補充的許家故事，依據許斤醫師出生、幼年、學校，擔任公醫及開業的歷程，再以台灣文獻館台灣總督府檔案，台灣日日新報等歷史資料加以對照。許斤年幼喪父，幼時罹患天花，經歷鹿港鼠疫疫情，見證焚毀街道的慘狀。後來考取總督府醫學校公費生，畢業擔任公醫，遭遇霍亂疫情，職責所在配合警察執行檢疫，遭致鄉民以壞心紅鼻譏諷，令他對開業生涯灰心。許斤醫師出生於瘴癘之時，研習醫學，擔任公醫，努力執行抗疫任務，見證台灣擺脫疫病，他的行醫抗疫人生，是台灣日治時期值得紀錄的一頁。

Dr. Hsu Jin (1893-1979) was an early elite in Taiwan who received formal Western medical education. This article is a historical research. The historical documents used include the Hsu family story, the oral narrations of Dr. Xu Jin's third son. We compare it with historical materials such as the Taiwan Archives of Taiwan Governor-General's Office and Taiwan Daily Newspaper. Hsu Jin suffered from smallpox when he was a child, experienced the plague epidemic in Lukang, and witnessed the tragic scenes of burned streets. Later, he was admitted to the Taiwan Governor's Medical School as a government-funded student and worked as a public health doctor after graduation. However, he encountered a cholera epidemic and cooperated with the police to enforce quarantine. He was mocked by the villagers, which made him feel discouraged about his career. Dr. Hsu was born in a time of miasma, he served as a public health doctor and worked hard to carry out anti-epidemic tasks and witnessed Taiwan's escape from the epidemic. His life of fighting the epidemic is worthy of learning by future generations in the medical field.
