本文旨在闡述學校領導的理念與省思，首先呈現學校領導研究數量的趨勢，一則突顯學校領導研究範疇的轉變，另則說明學校領導研究已有與日俱增的趨勢。其次，本文敘述變遷社會中的學校角色，以更加突顯學校領導的重要性。接著提出當前學校領導的四個重要範疇，並對當前學校領導提出四項省思，包含1．因應時代需要，有關校長學(principalship)的研究有待加強；2．配合社會變遷，學校領導應重視學校再造，以塑建優質校園文化；3．如何落實教學領導，建立教學評鑑機制，有待學校領導者深思；4．學校領導者應不斷地汲取新知，兼顧領導與管理，以達成有效能的學校領導。
