The purpose of this study was to inquire teachers' sense of efficacy for character education, and to examine if there were significant differences among different background variables. A questionnaire including teachers' sense of efficacy for character education was administered to a sample of 550 elementary school teachers in the middle area of Taiwan. 505 (91.81%) were returned, and 475(86.36%) were valid. Data was analyzed with SPSS using descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, and Tukey's HSD.
The results of this study were as followings:
1. Teachers generally possessed a relatively positive attitude in efficacy for character education.
2. There were significant differences in teachers' sense of efficacy for character education among different age, teaching experience, years of service, school size, and school location.
Based on the results, this study provided some suggestions for school administrators, teachers, and future study.
