男性應陽剛、獨立、理性;而女性應溫柔、同情、整潔之性別角色刻板印象,在家庭、職場、學校處處可見。也因為如此,護理工作的柔性特質,應該由女性來擔任的想法,在護理界更是彰顯。雖然,目前已有一些男性護理人員的加入,不過仍是居於少數,從國內的研究結果發現,這些畢業生仍願意從事臨床護理工作者並不多,流失的情形高達71%。流失的原因不外乎是無升遷管道、薪水太少、無成就感等。仍然脫離不了男性的性別刻板中之期待:男人要有權力、地位及賺錢養家的資源擁有者,而不是依賴者有關。因此,本文則藉由文獻資料的探討回顧,將男性護理人員的歷史脈絡及性別刻板印象對男性護理人員職業的選擇與衝突做一敘述。 |
英文摘要 |
The male stereotype is said to be strong, independent, and rational; and the female stereotype to be tender, sympathetic, and tidy. This kind of stereotype can be found in the families, working places, or schools. Due to this stereotype, the characteristic of the nursing job–tenderness, is usually recognized as in the women’s occupation. Even though male nurses are continually entering this job, the number of male nurses still occupies a small portion in this field. The results of some national studies indicated that most of male nursing graduates do not intend to work in this field. The drop-out rate of male graduates reaches 71% high. The reasons include no promotion channels, low salary, and low work achievement, etc. These are caused by the expectation of male gender stereotype–Males should possess power, important position, and be the supplier for family expense. Therefore, by reviewing the related literature, this report intends to narrate the history of Male Nurses and present the conflicts and impacts of gender stereotype on occupation selection. |
