社區大學的基本理念是「解放知識,催生公民社會」,其最終目的是在推動台灣的改革運動。而其運動邏輯則是,第一、矯正傳統教育的知識傳承與運用方式,才能產生成熟公民社會所需的新文化與價值觀;第二、發展成熟的公民社會,而非倚賴各式(特別是政治)菁英們的領導,才能真正維繫台灣的改革力量。在同意這一論述的前提下,本文試圖釐清作為「催生公民社會」的知識解放如何可能。所謂「如何可能」是一個康德式的提問方式,意即「知識解放」已被假定為可能,分析的重點因此是提出一個「如何能夠」的說明。在第一節中,筆者先重構黃武雄教授對「知識解放」的論述邏輯,因為他對社區大學的知識性格的解釋,時至今日依舊構成了整個社區大學的哲學基礎。第二節則簡略地分析構成公民社會的主要特性有哪些,以便釐清用以「催生公民社會」的知識概念為何。在前二節的基礎上,第三節則檢討黃武雄教授所提出的「套裝知識」與「經驗知識」的區分,及其知識論上的意涵。第四節提出「默會知識」對此區分的修正意見。第五節根據我們的修正意見,說明社區大學的知識性格為運動面向的文化啓蒙。第六節則就社區大學目前所遭遇的實際問題,討論其定位為何。 |
英文摘要 |
The basic idea of Taiwanese community universities is ”emancipation of knowledge as the way toward civil society.” Its final concern is to promote everlasting reform in Taiwan. In the first section of this article, I rephrase the mainstream explanation of emancipation of knowledge, in which a principle of knowledge classification, ”packaged knowledge” versus ”living knowledge”, is lay out. The essential charateristic for the automony of a civil society is then discussed in the second section in order to clarify what kind of knowldege is necessary for an autonomous civil society. In the third section, I explore the difficulties within the distinction of ”packaged knowledge” versus ”living knowledge” in an epistemological context in terms of the objectivity and validity of scientfic knowledge. The fourth section then turns to resovling these difficulties by applying the Polanyian concept of tacit knowing. I argue that this revision will aovid the peril of determinism of logical positivism and subjectivism of Kuhnian paradigm and thus provide a heuristic theoretical starting point to bridge the emancipation of knowledge and the establishment of civil society. The fifth section explains the proper knowledge for community universities is not to create the alternative knowledge different from academic knowledge, but making use of academic knowledge to accomplish their public concern. In the sixth section, I discuss this epistemological solution will help to define the orientation of Taiwanese community university and therefore throw light on some current debates for the operation of community university. |
