Several decades ago, the economy in Taiwan was booming, and Paiwan society was also changing drastically. Will such a social and economic background, Tsai Mei-Yun's songs and music were produced and released by a music company. Her album, in a short space of time, because a hit in all Paiwan communities. Her songs also became very popular in the southern Taiwan conducted research from the perspective of social musicology to try to find out why people at the time loved Tsai's songs so much. One reason, was that the music company successfully shaped her image as an excellent singer; another reason, was the powerful lyrics in her songs describing the tough time she experienced as she fought for the freedom to love. In addition successfully portraying the young men and women the time, bewildered when faced with the conflicts between modern progress and traditional values. Tsai also expressed the feelings of those Paiwan who wandered outside mainstream society. When listening to her songs, one can feel not only the in f1uence of native folksongs but also the influence of pop music. We interpreted Tsai's music further through semilogical and ”musikalische semantic analysis when she sung spontaneously, we felt that her improvised singing added another dimension to her music. Her songs pointed out the despair that people feel when they are faced with oppression, helpless and wandering. |
