本研究目的主要在探討橄欖球運動球員的遴選，透過文獻的分析歸納其要點為：一、它是現實妥協上的一項課題。二、球員的遴選無需挑選各位置最佳的選手，而是作出正確的組合和變化。三、一個特定球員的選定，除了考慮到客觀的因素，大部份的依據為被遴選球員本人的膽識和反應。這就是最後決定遴選人員的最終標準。所以本文結論即為在進行最終客觀的判斷前，必須使用遴選人員的步驟，即兼顧有系統性和簡要原則的方式。因此，球員的選定就是洞察先機的本能或反應性的方法。

The purpose of this study was aimed to analysis the Rugby coaching and development, the results are following as: 1.selection of players is an exercise in pragmatic compromise.2. Selection is not necessarily about picking the best player in each position, but about the right combinations and variations. 3.Ultimately selection of a particular player, besides its objective factors, is largely based on the selector's 'gut' reaction and instinct, which is naturally the last criterion for selection. So prior to making this final subjective judgment, an objective step-by-step method of selection that is both systematic and comprehensive must be used. Selection could be proactive or reactive.
