目的：醫藥發展延長病人停留加護病房的時間，探討家屬面對和回應病人接受重症醫療的整體經驗。方法：採質性研究立意取樣和深度訪談方式收集資料。於2015年7月至2015年9月訪談南部某區域教學醫院共11位家屬，訪談過程全程錄音，錄音稿轉成逐字稿作為分析文本，資料分析採主題分析法。結果：歸納出三個主題：「生活中充滿不確定性」、「獲知病情資訊之需求」、及「確保家人照護品質之需求」。結論：當病人住進加護病房使家屬的生活充滿不確定性，家屬因而產生獲知病情資訊和確保家人照護品質的需求。本研究發現造成家屬不確定性的因素可作為護理人員理解家屬經驗及協助提升照護需求的指引。

Purpose: The development of medicine prolongs the time that patients stay in an intensive care unit (ICU). This study explores the experiences of family members of adult patients in an ICU. Methods: Data were collected through intentional sampling and in-depth interviews in quality research. From July 2015 to September 2015, 11 family members were interviewed in a teaching hospital in the south region. The interview process was recorded. The verbatim drafts were coded and analyzed with thematic content analysis. Results: Three themes were identified, namely, ＂full of uncertainty in life,＂ ＂the need to know the information on the patients' condition,＂ and ＂the need to ensure the quality of care.＂ Conclusion: When a patient is admitted to an ICU, his or her family's life is full of uncertainty. The family has the need to obtain information about the patient's condition and ensure the quality of family care. This study found that the factors contributing to the uncertainty of the family members can be used as guidelines for nurses to understand family experiences and help meet their needs.
