王夢鷗（1907－2002）先生自幼研習國學，及長負笈東瀛，入早稻田文學研究所，接觸日本師友，涉讀世界文學、美學諸潮流，融貫舊學與新知；其日後的劇本創作、文學理論的探討，以及嚴謹之治學方法，均導源自此。先生具備西方人文視野，復能綰合傳統中國禮學文化、社會制度、民情風俗，與歷代文論詩論，互為參照，彼此貫通，其深厚的治學功力常展現於各種研究當中。諸如中國古典小說、禮學、現代文學，與中國文學批評，具體成果有：《禮記研究》、《漢簡文字》、《鄒衍與陰陽五行說》，《文心雕龍》、唐詩、《唐人小說校釋》（上下），以及中外文學理論等等。本文擬擇取先生若干篇章，管窺其治學脈絡、方法與見解，要分為校勘、注釋、論述三項，必然掛一漏萬；惟期許與當今學子緬懷先輩篤實敦厚之學風，進而效法其樹立之人文典範。

Wang Meng-Ou had worked on traditional Chinese studies since his childhood. Later in the graduate school of literature at Waseda University, Japan, he started his research on world literature and aesthetics by way of integrating traditional studies and modern knowledge. Possessing the western horizons of the humanities, Wang combined traditional Chinese culture of rites, the social system, and folk customs so as to form reference for literary and poetic theories from different dynasties. His rich and profound scholarship was notably shown in all sorts of research such as Chinese classic novels, the theory of rites, modern literature, and Chinese literary criticism.Based on collation, annotation, and discourse, this essay aims to examine his scholarship, methodology, and understanding with a restricted view and wishes to remind today's students of the predecessor's sound and honest style of study and to learn from the human model he established.
