Liposome has been applied to the medical field as a drug carrier to help cure disease for a very long time. However, it is not a new concept for the cosmetic industry until recent years. Due to the similarity of the chemical structures between liposome and human skin, liposome can easily carry active agents that are necessary for repairing skin cells because its ability to penetrate through skin deeply. This study was trying to create a new prototype of liposome product that could carry Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP) as an active agent. For that purpose, three different kinds of liposomes were created in this experiment by using two equipments. One is an ultra homogenizer and the another is a Microfluidizer. The condition for the ultra homogenizer was set with rotation speed 19,000rpm, and 5 minutes of duration time. The other two samples were made by a Microfluidizer with pressure setting at 700 bar. One of the two had 10 cycling times. And another one had 20 cycling times. After these prototypes were created, they were measured in size and the rate of drug entrapment efficiency. Also the liposomes were evaluated with stability and transdermal permeation in vitro by dissolution test. The final result indicated that the size of the liposome was about 0.5~1.1μm. The smallest size was about 515 nanometers and was created by the Microfluidizer with 20 cycling times. It proved that these liposomes were capable of carrying MAP. Also the results showed that the percentage rate of the drug entrapment efficiency was about 43~52%. Those made by the ultra homogenizer had the higher entrapment efficiency. In safety test, it showed no sign of allergy at all. And the dissolution test indicated that MAP was released from the liposome at the same speed, and there was no significant difference among all three samples after 24 hours of test. |
