Regulations at the school tend to become monolithic standard. For example, uniform becomes unavoidable if the school administrative has a whole set of rules to regulate the appearance of the students. Any uniforms that are produced through rigid restrictions are invariably in lack of creativity and Jim. Not only are the creativity and Jim sacrificed, but the whole regulating system also brings in pressure and constraints to the members within. This paper aims to discuss the common elements in high school uniforms, and deconstruct them so as to subvert the boring stereotype of high school student appearance. It also proposes new designs that reorganize the old combinations of the uniform elements, and present interesting looks which favor the expressions that the young people prefer, and symbolize the freedom out of school restraint with personal uniqueness. This research primarily takes on Taipei First Girls' High School's uniform as an exemplar. Its history shows the mentality of students under uniform regulation, and how the students long to escape from and change it. The paper first explores the origin of the uniform, and then tries to transform it into innovative designs, intending to break out of cliché impression so that the student image could be an icon of fashion. Furthermore, to demonstrate their desire and self-determination to be absolved from the restraint and pressure, all the tentative designs tend to deconstruct the form of uniforms through the application of different layers with fabric surface treatments. Hope this collection of fashion design really presents the unique spirit of individuality of the young generation in Taiwan.
