學生對中外籍英文教師教學策略之認知與分析

本文藉由一實證性研究來探討中外籍英文教師之競爭力，首先提出理論性的比較，針對中外籍教師各自的優弱勢、機會與威脅，做初步探討。接著詳述研究方法與結呆，本研究共回收學生問卷107份，籍以了解學生對外籍教師之期望，並訪談學生之中外籍教師各三位；結果發現約半數學生並不重視外籍教師之國籍與腔調，但大部分學生仍期望外籍教師平易近人、上課輕鬆、少出作業與考試。本文最後提出建議，希望未來中外籍教師都能各自發揮所長幫助學生學者，而學生也能破除若干對外籍教師之迷思。

This paper aims to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of Native-Speaking English Teachers (NESTs) and Non-Native-Speaking English Teachers (NNESTs) from anempirical study that includes a student question and teacher interviews. A theoretical and historical perspective on the comparison between NESTs and NNESTs is fIrst presented, followed by a detailed description of the empirical study. A total of 107 students returned the questionnaire on the students' expectation of NESTs. The authors also interviewed three NESTs and three NNESTs. All the interviewed teachers were teaching the students when the questionnaire was conducted. The result indicates that nearly half of the students no longer emphasize the importance of NESTs' nationality and their accent. However, several misconceptions still echo previous findings, such as NESTs' personality, instruction, and assessment. Suggestions on how to create a more helpful environment for students, NESTs, and NNESTs are offered.
