本文將《詩經》中出現之29處「烝」字句，按「烝」字用爲本義、引申義、通假義次序，區分爲火氣上行、細柴、冬祭、進、衆、美盛諸義及存疑，臚列重要注家訓解，一一考辨各句中「烝」字詞義。

A survey of the 29 occurrences of zheng 烝 in the book of Ode shows that it is a polysemous word encompassing three types of senses: basic sense, extended sense and interchangeable sense. In particular, it features a set of senses such as rising steam, fine firewood, winter sacrificial ceremony, superior behavior, bountifulness, , as well as some unresolved senses. This is a close scrutiny and in-depth analysis of the meaning of the word zheng 烝 in the sentences involved based on the annotations of previous important philological works.
