研究目的探討女性教師不婚抉擇的內涵及生活適應，針對五位年滿35歲高中及國小不婚女性教師，深度晤談法之研究結果發現：受訪者屬於非自願單身類型，曾渴望愛情與婚姻。原因爲好姻緣可遇不可求、內向個性、宥於傳統觀念、受他人婚姻影響、排斥相親管道、婚姻與母職聯結的鬆動、情傷、婚姻適應、生涯規畫、經濟獨立。不婚關鍵期在35-40歲間，分別爲尷尬期、夢幻期及待友期、待婚期、困惑期、不婚期、適應期等階段。目前生活適應需面對親友的催婚壓力、自我認同的審視、居住環境的選擇、未來生活規畫。對不婚生活感到滿意及不悔。

The purpose of the present study is to explore the reasons why five female schoolteachers who are over thirty-five of age choose not to get married and their adaptation to unmarried life. In-depth interview of the qualitative approach is employed to conduct the research, and talks are guided by semi-structural interviews. They used to be eager for love and marriage when they were young. The choice of not getting married is made for various reasons. It is most importation that good marriage cannot be acquired deliberately. The choice-making process can be divided into four stages: the ignorance stage, the dream stage, the stage of expecting marriage, and the stage of deciding not to get married. The female schoolteachers who choose not to get married make use of the time after work to enjoy the freedom and to enrich their lives by doing a variety of activities.
