本校通識教育中心以全人教育為主要目標，期能培養與陶冶心靈自由、氣質高雅且具獨立思考、整合判斷與價值選擇的人才，並訓練學生具多方面技能，以增強其生存能力，進而創造幸福的人生，其立意與目標均相當美善，但在多年的推行過程中，卻有相當多的困難與挑戰，如通識科目與專業科目之間的競爭排擠、學生對於通識課程的輕忽及通識教育高懸的理想常和實際教學中產生落差，致使授課教師易產生挫折感，學生學習動機與成就過低等情況。為改善上述問題，本校通識教育中心於九十六學度更名為博雅學部，為落實通識博雅教育理論跨出第一步。而高雄校區博雅學部國文組教師則針對本校區學生，進行學生國文素養及學習成果評估之研究，期能從中瞭解學生基礎能力及學習興趣所在，以為本校日後國文學科教學之參考。經過一學年的問卷測驗及調查訪問，提出對大一學生國文程度的觀察，以及對課程分組及教學的建議。

The aim of our General Education Center of is to help students build up an integrated sense of humanity, in which two dimensions in the spirit of General, Liberal Education should be emphasized: on the one hand, students should learn techniques from different perspectives to enhance their lives, and furthermore create a happy life of their own; on the other, through the cultivation of spirit, and training in independent thinking, and decision making about values judgment, the complete character of the individual can be fulfilled. However, it is usually found that there is a serious gap between the ideal situation and practical tuition on general education. Because students always neglected the courses of general education. Also there has highly competition between professional courses and general courses. These problems resulted some teachers having the feeling of frustration and students reducing their learning motivation. For improving above problems, this project is trying to investigate the students' Chinese ability, and learning performance that conducted by academic staffs of General Education division Center at Kaohsiung Campus. The aim of this project is to realize the students' basic ability and learning interest as a reference in order to improve the development of general education in future.
