中文摘要

The Internet has brought benefits to students and to educational process, but it has also brought certain risks. Considering that, the objective of this work is to analyze the relationship between online risk behaviors and indicators of integral development in students. This work summarizes the research line started 3 years ago in which participated 1,036 Chilean students (410 from high-school and 626 from universities) between 16 and 30 years old. The participants answered a set of self-reported instruments. The results of the investigations show high incidence of online risk behaviors in students. Students with more addiction to internet and with more online risk behavior presented higher frequency of online victimization, a lower academic performance and a greater presence of internalizing and externalizing symptoms. In turn, the students who most take refuge on the internet are those with problems of social anxiety, depression and perception of little social support. Cope with this issue is a big challenge for universities around the world, if what is wanted is to help students develop themselves as integral persons. Some possibilities are discussed in order to face the problem.
