The purpose of this study is to construct a set of「Measurement Indicators for Infant and Toddler Temperament that Corresponds with the Chinese Five Elements」so as to provide a more diversified way of infant and toddler temperament assessment and temperament thinking discourse. First, through literature review and analysis, the preliminary indicators and questions concerning the five elements of temperament were deduced, which included 10 indicators and definitions, and 50 questions. Next, this study adopted Delphi Technique as the research method to construct the indicators. After completing three expert questionnaires and attending remote consultation meetings, the 15 experts of the Delphi Technique team completed the results analysis, performed screening revisions, and then reached a consensus. The results were used as a basis to compile 40 questions that focus on the observable five major aspects of infant and toddler daily development. In addition, with the 10 indicators, as deduced from the purported meanings of the Chinese five elements, this study constructed the「Five Element Temperament Indicators for Infants and Toddlers」Using Chinese cultural and philosophical viewpoints as a basis, this study constructs specific and quantifiable temperament indicators in an objective and scientific manner, in accordance with the characteristics of the developmental tendencies of infant and toddler temperament in Taiwan, so as to provide a more precise and comprehensive assessment basis for a more appropriate temperament education for Taiwanese people.
