The Prevalence of Enterobius vermicularis Infection in Primary School Children of Central Pingtung

本研究為屏中地區學童蟯蟲感染盛行率之調查，從2010年11月至2011年1月，總共有十個鄉鎮3828位小學學童參予，以連續2天的玻璃膠紙肛圍擦拭法檢查蟯蟲的感染，所有檢查均由專責的醫檢師執行。調查顯示十個鄉鎮的盛行率有顯著差異0.68%～8.86%卡方檢定p值=0.001)，整體感染率為2.98%，而男生感染率為3.49%高於女生的2.42%。盛行率隨年級增加而下降，從一年級學童的4.26%降至四年級的1.84%。而根據我們的調查資料顯示屏中地區的山地、離島等區，蟯蟲感染盛行率仍很高，因此，感染的控制與防治仍須努力。

This study was to investigate the prevalence of Enterobius vermicularis infection among primary school children in the central region of Pingtung County. The time period was from November 2010 to January 2011, totally recruiting 3,828 primary school children from 10 different townships. The samples were collected by using adhesive cellophane tape perianal swabs for two consecutive days and all the examinations were done by certified medical technologists. The prevalence was different in the 10 areas (0.68-8.86%, Chi-square p=0.001) and the overall prevalence was 2.98%. A significantly higher prevalence was found in boys (3.49%) than in girls (2.42%) and the prevalence decreased by higher grades from 4.26% in the first grade students to 1.84% in the fourth grade students. Based on the obtaining data, we found that the prevalence of Enterobius vermicularis infection in the remote areas of central Pingtung primary schools remains high and does indicate the necessity to pay more attention in those areas.
