英文摘要

The criteria that must be considered when establishing an international studies curriculum are set forth. An essential first step is to determine the resources that are available to achieve desired goals. Exploiting a comparative advantage such as language training should be done within an overall program that emphasizes professionalism in applied studies, theory, area expertise and basic skills. Periodic internal and external evaluations should focus on the degrees of success that have been achieved in attaining clearly identified short and long range objectives.
