Su Hai-Ping was a master of woodcarving active in temple embellishment in post-war Taiwan. He was in charge of the woodcarving work in the third reconstruction of the Temple of Sansha (also known as Sansha Master Temple). Nevertheless, his contributions and crafts are little known without any record of exhaustive research. On account of this, the author aimed to establish a comprehensive record of Master Su Hai-Ping, starting with an investigation of Su's life deeds and records of the renovation of the Temple, referring to the oral accounts of his daughter, disciples and other acquaintances, and making a comparison between these findings and related literature. The author also strived to understand in depth the construction process conducted inside the Temple, at the same time gathering woodcarving graphs and arranging correlated data of the renovation, in order to conduct a thorough analysis of the past construction and the present status of Su's works.
