癌症疾病從確立診斷、積極治療至治療後照護是一個相當複雜的過程，當病人因缺乏疾病相關訊息使得各層面需求無法滿足時，則容易感到焦慮不安或中斷治療，反之，若訊息需求獲得滿足，能使得病人對治療措施的選擇有較高的滿意度、增進疾病因應能力及與家人間的溝通。而不同的疾病階段，婦癌病人的訊息需求亦隨之改變，在診斷和治療階段，醫療層面的訊息是婦癌病人需求性較高的，主要包含副作用的管理及預防、癌症的期別及預後、疾病對身體的影響等，而如何因應癌症復發及轉移之擔心、對未來的不確定感等亦為婦癌病人關注；而即使處於後續追蹤期，仍有自我照護、心理方面的需求，或者因新的照護措施而產生新的訊息需求，此意謂著確認病人的訊息需求是一個連續性的過程，如此才能提供依病人需求而量身訂做的衛生教育。

The cancer disease from diagnosis and active treatment to post-treatment care is a very complex process. Lacking of disease-related information may contribute to anxiety or discontinued treatment. In contrast, the degree that patients’ information needs are satisfied has been associated with outcomes including increased greater satisfaction with treatment choices, improved ability to cope with treatments and communication with family members. However, information needs transition from different treatment phase. During the diagnosis and treatment phase, patients with gynecologic cancers were more interested in medical information including side effect management and preventing, cancer stage and prognosis, and how the disease may physically affect the body. Moreover, information about how to cope with fear of cancer recurrence and spreading and uncertainty about the future are also concerned need of patients with gynecologic cancers. At the post-treatment phase, patients will continue to need information in self care, psychological and new areas relevant to their care. This means that continued to identify for patient information needs is necessary and the following four time points are recommended: the first appointment with the oncologist, the planning appointment, first day of treatment, and approaching the end of treatment. This may guide the development of educational materials tailored to the needs of individual patients.
