本研究目的是探討慢性腎病(chronic kidney disease)患者的求醫行為，採回溯之描述性研究及立意取樣，共50位接受長期透析未達兩個星期的患者參與，並應用面對面訪談及參與性觀察收集資料，為增加研究結果的信度，研究者在資料收集後佐證參與者的醫療紀錄。研究結果歸納出患者的求醫行為有五項：確立腎功能異常的動機、求醫治療、面對長期透析的恐懼、接受初次透析的情況、未來透析生活的調適。本研究結果可作為瞭解患者所需，早期介入和處理患者問題的指引以修訂透析前照護的參考。

The purpose of this retrospective study was to explore the behaviors of seeking health care in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Fifty CKD patients who had accepted dialysis therapy within the two-week period of initial dialysis were enrolled. Data collection strategies used included interviews and participated observation. In order to increase result reliability, the investigator also conducted a confirmatory review of participating patient medical records after interviews were completed. The investigation found that CKD patients' initially awareness of their condition came with impaired renal function, after which they sought medical care, began to face the prospect of long term dialysis therapy, accepted the necessity of dialysis therapy, and adapted to living with dialysis therapy. Study results can provide suggestions on how to implement/adjust multidisciplinary pre-dialysis care programs so that health care quality is improved.
