The isometric Bunkie-test has been used to assess fascia alignment in five kinetic chains related to movement patterns and core function not only in high level athletes, but also recreational players. Purpose: To exam and explore function of the Bunkie-test: a functional core assessment method. Method: Literature was reviewed and analyzed to explore the function of the isometric Bunkie-test. Results: The Bunkie-test consists of five testing positions along various fascia lines, including: the posterior power line, the anterior power line, the posterior stabilizing line, the lateral stabilizing line, and the medial stabilizing line. These five tests require minimal equipment: an adjustable bench and a mat, the bench should be adjustable allowing a height of approximately 25 to 30 cm in height. The results of the current researches revealed that the Bunkie-test is highly relevant to biomotor ability, such as vertical jump, repeated sprint, Illinois agility test, pull-up, but negatively relevant in physiological markers, such as VO2 Max, HR max etc.. Conclusion: It is suggested that the Bunkie-test can be implemented as a useful tool for coaches, trainers, and therapists to monitor and assess core stability and the risk of injuries.
