Sports events have become the indispensable choice of promoting tourism in Sun Moon Lake; for example, swimming, kayaking, running and cycling which attract tens of millions of participants and spectators around the world. Thus, the purpose of this study was to explore the determinants and conditions of customer satisfaction with hotels for the event of 2008 Triathlon in Sun Moon Lake. This research employed Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and questionnaire survey to improve and identify problems associated with the quality of hotel services. The results showed that the top five service quality categories are ”customer relationship management”, ”promotion planning”, ”employee education training”, ”room service”, and ”sport event information service”. With the increasing awareness for sustainable business practices, these findings can be used to help enhance hotel services to meet customers' needs.
