本研究以14位新移民家長與3位教師為研究參與者,以行動研究的方式探究依據「文化了解與溝通模式」(Schmidt, 1998)所設計的跨文化親師活動運用於教師與新移民家長之溝通與聯結的情形。主要的研究發現包括:(一)新移民家長與教師對於跨文化親師溝通與聯結活動的辦理與成效持肯定的看法。(二)在學校與家庭聯結中,教師扮演非常重要的角色;教師的積極參與及溝通能提高家長的參與度。(三)跨文化親師溝通與聯結活動提供不同國籍成員交流的平台,讓成員對彼此的文化有更進一步的認識與了解。(四)新移民家長與教師藉由自我探索與團體對談,分享了個人的想法與觀點,同時也藉此交流分享資源。(五)新移民家長在參與活動過程中擴展相互支持的網絡,同時緊密彼此的情感。(六)幼兒父親的支持與否為幼兒母親(新移民女性)能否持續參與的關鍵之一。(七)教師與新移民家長對親子教養的議題最感興趣,然而此議題之討論僅佔跨文化親師溝通與聯結活動的三分之一,較為不足。本文最後則依據研究結果提出建議。

英文摘要

The purpose of this action research study was to explore how a series of activities based on the ABC's Model of Cultural Understanding and Communication (Schmidt, 1998) helped facilitate cross-cultural communications and connections between teachers and new immigrant parents. The participants of this study were 3 teachers and 14 new immigrant parents. Major findings included: (1) New immigrant parents and teachers had positive responses to the cross-cultural communication and connection program. (2) Teachers played a critical role in home-school connections. (3) The cross-cultural parent/teacher communication and connection program provided opportunities for parents and teachers to learn each other's cultures. (4) Through self-exploration and group dialogues, program members shared personal thoughts and perspectives. (5) The support network among new immigrant parents was developed and extended. (6) Support from new immigrant's husbands influenced new immigrants' participation in home-school connections. (7) New immigrants and the teachers felt that issues related to child rearing and education could have been explored more in the cross-cultural parent/teacher communication and connection program. Suggestions based on the findings were provided at the end of this paper.
