The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between university students' motivation and satisfaction after participating in Taichi, and to analyze the differences in the motivation and satisfaction of students with different characteristics. In order to investigate students' motivation of and satisfaction with Taichi, 610 students in the Taichi class were selected by cluster sampling employed with the "Motivation and Satisfaction of participating Taichi scale" at the end of the semester. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation analysis were conducted, and the results as follows. First, the results of the study indicate that the motivation of and the satisfaction with particing Taichi were in mid-to-low. The major motivation of particing Taichi was the social need factor, and the aspect of Taichi that the students were most satisfied with was the aesthetic satisfaction. Second, regarding the motivation of participation in Taichi, the health need factor of female students were significantly higher than that of male students; in relation to the satisfaction with Taichi, female and male students, as well as the students of different divisions, differed significantly in several satisfaction aspects. Third, the motivation of participating in Taichi was positively correlated with the satisfaction. Based on the results of the study, university students' motivation of learning and participating Taichi was quite low, and the motivation of participation and satisfaction were highly positively corelated. Finally, with respect to increasing university students' motivation of participation in Taichi and satisfaction with it, practical suggestions for the instruction of physical education and future research are made.
