東坡詞作多樣風貌，俱都可圈可點，自成一格。實因才情多向，加上歷練深刻、豐富，故能表現多樣的藝術風格。詞作雖有不同風貌，或剛或柔，也都迥異於他人。因爲他在意象的選擇和運用上，有其與眾不同又引人入勝的效果。爲了解釋東坡風格的獨特，本文擬就其用字的意象，進行語意的隱喻思維分析，試圖從他用字的特別用法，做另一面相的解釋。由於在較籠統的歸納中，他被奉爲豪放詞派的代表，所以本文即以豪放風格中，最顯豪氣的字眼－醉，作爲切入分析的代表，亦即以「醉」字看東坡。

The poetry of Dongpo is diverse in style, all his works being excellent and each having its own style. This diversity is due to his brilliance, exceptional talent, and profound life experiences. All his works, whether strong or soft in style, are unique. His choice and application of images achieve extraordinarily fascinating effects. The aim of this study is to explain the uniqueness of Dongpo's style by analyzing the metaphoric word meanings as well as character images in an attempt to explicate his special usage. Dongpo's conception of representation is generally bold and unconstrained. Therefore, the word ”drunk,” which most clearly reveals the heroic spirit in his bold style works, was selected for representative analysis, i.e., to know him through this word.
