The author of this paper, Lotus, was the advisor of a foster mother, Chu. The Event of Kay made Lotus recall the struggling procedure of Chu, trying hard to figure out where David would be placed eventually. Chu loved David not lesser than his biological mother and she thought of adopting David, if his father would put David to be adopted officially. So far, Chu enjoyed the fostering relationship between her and David. Chu depended on the foresting fee paid officially to raise David including his medical care, tuition fee and all other fees for food, learning and entertaining activities. The death of Kay aged one, abused by his second nanny, aroused the public attention. In contrast, David has been lucky to be fostered by Chu, even though he was diagnosed as a severe autistic child, needing medical care and all kinds of rehabilitations. This paper aimed to explore, somewhere in the society, there are fostering mothers like Chu trained officially trying hard to give cares to those children needing temporary accommodations. Kay's first nanny was willing to adopt him but, limited by the new official adopting regulations, she failed to fulfill her wish. When Kay was in the waiting list of adopting, he was transferred to the second nanny's house, where he was abused to death. This news made the public questioning why Kay could not be adopted by his first nanny, who took good care of him. By using Chu's reflections on adopting David or not, Lotus hoped to redirect the attention all of the whole society to recognize the fact, adopting is a big issue-too many tasks needing to confront, in addition to the new official adopting regulation. Lotus hoped the public donations would not be stopped or withdraw due to Kay's death. It was also hoped more families would join the line of fostering like Chu. |
