犁頭草,別名土半夏,台灣民間傳聞此藥草具有治療癌症的功效;然而,民眾服用此藥而中毒的案例時有耳聞。本病例為一名肺癌患者,服用犁頭草後出現口腔潰瘍及嚴重腹瀉症狀,我們採用清熱解毒、利濕收澀之法,使用葛根苓連湯合五苓散治療,成功緩解中毒症狀。在藥理功效上,犁頭草在實驗室的研究上具有抗癌、抗病毒、清除自由基等作用,但其詳細機轉不明,且無任何人體臨床試驗足以證實此藥可有效治療人類之癌症。在毒副作用上,犁頭草葉的萃取物鄰苯二甲酸二丁酯(dibutyl phthalate, DBP)能引起明顯的發炎反應,而且犁頭草之生物學親屬植物多具有引發呼吸困難、喘咳、嘔吐、腹瀉、口舌麻痺、咽喉疼痛等症狀之毒副作用。據此,我們建議民眾在犁頭草藥理作用尚未明暸前,不要賀然服用。 |

Divaricate Typhonium(Typhonium blumei Nicolson & Sivad.), also known as Rodent tuber, which is claimed by Taiwan population that the herb possesses anti-cancer activity. However, episodes of intoxication by taking this herb happen once in a while. In this case report, a patient suffering from lung adenocarcinoma, showed symptoms of severe diarrhea, oral ulcers after taking this herb for anti-cancer purpose. In this case, heat-clearing, yin-nourishing, dampness-draining and astringing methods are applied to successfully neutralize intoxicated symptoms by administering Wuling Decoction combined with Gegen Qinlian Decoction for therapy. In pharmacological aspect, literature shows Divaricate Typhonium possessing activities of anti-cancer, anti-virus and free radical scavenging but without clearly physiological mechanism and any clinical trial to evaluate its anti-cancer therapeutic effect. In toxicological side effects, Divaricate Typhonium extracts known as dibutyl phthalate (DBP) can lead to remarkably inflammation. Most of the same genus plants of Divaricate Typhonium have the tendency leading to dyspnea, cough, vomiting, diarrhea, mouth numbness, and throat soreness. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that herb practitioners and the public do not take Divaricate Typhonium until clearly pharmacological mechanism was investigated. |
