自主權是病患的權利之一，在精神科特別容易被忽略。本研究的目的在藉由焦點團體的方式了解精神病患對自主權的需求。以質性研究方法探討十位精神病患在焦點團體討論中對自主權的需求。團體以半結構方式進行討論，每次團體進行六十分鐘，共計四次，在徵詢病患同意下每次團體討論全程以錄音帶錄音收集資料，資料分析以內容分析法進行。研究結果歸納病患自主權的需求有四項：相關訊息的權利、選擇活動治療的權利、參與病房決策的權利及建立良好的醫病關係的權利。研究結果可增進醫護人員對精神病患自主權需求的了解，及作為提升精神病患行使自主權能力的參考，也提供精神醫療專業人員一個反思的空間。

Autonomy of psychiatric patients is often ignored and neglected. The purpose of this study was to understand the need for autonomy of psychiatric patients in the day hospital of a regional hospital. In this study, focus group interview was used to investigate the need for autonomy of ten psychiatric patients. There were four sixty-minute interviews during the study period. All the processes were tape-recorded. Qualitative content analysis was applied in this study. Four needs were concluded, including providing information, choosing activity therapy, involving policy of ward and relationship of psychiatric work. The results help health care workers to gain a deeper understanding of the need for autonomy of psychiatric patients and help patients to empower their autonomy.
