整體人的觀念應包含身體、心理、社會及靈性四個層面。但精神病患的靈性安適經常被忽略,導因於精神科護理人員對靈性照護的不瞭解。本文旨在提醒護理人員何謂靈性、靈性照護在精神科護理上的盲點、靈性對精神病人的重要性及如何提供靈性護理。籍由文獻探討針對東西方的靈性定義、靈性議題之於精神分裂症病患、靈性照護責任的歸屬及靈性照護在心理衛生的運用等議題作討論。靈性的需求會因文化因素、個人觀感及生活經驗而不同。護理人員的角色即在提供以病人為中心的照顧,這樣才能使靈性照護能兼具個別性及文化性,以提升護理的品質。

英文摘要

The ”Unitary human being” includes physical, psychological, social and spiritual aspects in a holistic care. However, the spiritual well-being of the patients with mental illness are often neglected by psychiatric nurses due to lack of knowledge. This article aims to remind nurses what spirituality is, what hardships of providing spiritual care that nurses met and how nurses can attain spiritual care to patients with mental illness in the patient-nurse relationship. This article reviewed and discussed current literature in four parts: Western and Eastern definitions of spirituality, schizophrenia and the issue of spirituality, nurse's responsibility of concerning spiritual need of patients, and spiritual care in mental health care. The individual spiritual needs can be viewed as a subjective prospect and unique experience to different people according to the differences in backgrounds, cultures, views, and interpretations of the surrounding environment. Nurse's role is to provide patient centered care in order to practice spiritual care relate to both culture and individuality, and improve the quality of nursing care.
