Purposes: This study is intended to explore the parental involvement of parents whose premature babies are engaged in early intervention services. Methods: The research was carried out by means of purposive sampling. At a medical center in Taichung, eighty parents (forty in pairs) whose premature children are under six years old and engaged in early intervention programs were requested to complete two questionnaires, including Background Information of Premature Babies and Parents and Evaluation of Parental Involvement. Results: Further analysis showed that the majority of parental involvement behavior is affective, following by instrumental and the least one is obligatory. For father, who accompany their children with the early intervention services or not significantly influenced the level of father's involvement including affective, instrumental and obligatory behavior. As for the mother's involvement, the level of education and the household income had a significant influence on the instrumental and affective behavior. For obligatory behavior also significant related to household income and expenditure. Conclusions: 1.The average of parental involvement behaviors falls between scores 2.84~3.65 according to the result of questionnaires, which indicates a medium level of parental involvement.2.The most paternal involvement is emotional involvement. Follow by instrumental involvement and then responsible involvement.
